Résumé: | A case has been referred to the tribunal concerning a couple who have presented themselves for the RCIA in one of our parishes. The man is a Mormon and not validly baptized, the woman was baptized by a priest of the Society of Saint P,ius X (SSPX). They were married in the SSPX church. We have two questions. (1) Must she make a profession of faith, as do the Orthodox, when being received into full communion? (2) Is it correct to presume that their marriage was valid, in that neither party was a Catholic at the time of the marriage so they were not bound to the canonical form or impediments of the merely ecclesiastical law? |
