Summary: | A sister has approached her major superior with a canonical question: My sister has been working to provide security for my niece as she approaches her 18th birthday. (She will be 17 years old on Aug. 9th!) Since my niece will need guardianship into her adulthood, my sister is seeking to be the primary guardian, of course. I am to be the "Standby Guardian" - meaning that "upon the death, incapacity, renunciation, or removal of the last guardian before me" I would agree to become my nieces legal guardian. Are there any Canonical or Provincial difficulties with this? |
