Description
Summary:The paper deals with the broad debate on synodality, enlivened by the ongoing celebration of the Synod, desired by Pope Francis, on the same theme. The specific view concerns some proposals regarding the possible, and here hoped for, revision of Book ii De Populo Dei of the 1983 Codex iuris canonici, not unlike what has already happened with Book vi De sanctionibus. Developments in the Ecclesiology of Communion and ecclesial self-awareness on co-responsibility seem to postulate this revision, forty years after the Codex, and this in terms of a renewed reception of the Second Vatican Council. In particular, some reforms of the collegial bodies of participation operating at the level of particular churches and parishes are postulated.
