Riepilogo: | Kerry O’Halloran has been active in the space occupied by religion and human rights for a number of years. His book State Neutrality: The Sacred, the Secular and Equality Law represents the breadth of knowledge that he brings to the table, which has been fashioned by the vexed collision between secular, largely Western democracies, on one hand, and religion, on the other. The range of this domain extends from Ronald Dworkin’s quest for a Religion without God (2013), to critical race theorists’ pursuit of pagan Puritanism, to Steven D. Smith’s electrifying quest for a constitutional principle of religious freedom represented by his book, Foreordained Failure (1995). This range suggests that O’Halloran has given himself a daunting task. |
