Zusammenfassung: | "Our diocese is considering implementing a new practice concerning Mass offerings. The proposed practice would have all Mass offerings deposited into the parish operational account as ordinaty parish income. Celebrants would no longer receive the Mass offerings, but would receive an increase in their monthly remuneration which would be commensurate with the money priests would receive for celebrating one Mass per day. If priests offer more than one Mass daily, or if they do not offer Mass on every day, there would he no change in their monthly remuneration. Also, aware of the infinite salvfic power of each Mass, the policy will allow numerous intentions for any Mass, and the faithfid will be informed of this by an announcement in the diocesan newspaper. Several priests favor this proposal because it would provide all priests with the same monthly remuneration, and it would no longer appear that they are being "paid" to offer Mass. Would this proposal be permilfed by canon law?" |
