Summary: | Religious Freedom in Indian Subcontinent: Which Future for Christian Minority? - The events occured in India once again, with some urgency, propose the issue of secularism in India. Our intention, in this brief notations, is to summarize the question of freedom of religion in India. The study is divited into 4 parts. At the beginning, the author underlines the facts occurred in the Indian sub-continent concerning religious problems between Hindus and the other minorities, in particular Christians. After the notations, the author analyses the problem of religious freedom in the Constitution of India, moving from the more important sections for this question. The third part, maybe the central question of the article, concerns the important problem of the anti-conversion laws that many States of India have adopted. In this contest, there is also the problem of "dalits", the out-caste people, and their discrimination not only on the social and political level, but even on the religious one, also from Christian and Catholic communities. At the end, the conclusions. From the message of the Holy Father to UN, he reminds that human rights aren't negotiable, and the correct notion of secularism must be respected by all people of any minorities |
