| Résumé: | This article provides a historical and canonical study of sources and editorial «iter» the canons 1065 and 1066 of the 1917 Code, which deal with the so-called marriage "cum indignis". In the pastoral situation of those who come to the wedding with little personal faith, a kind of verification is sought, in the light of the sources, of the affirmation of the Exhortation "Familiaris consortio" that establishing criteria for admission to marriage based on the degree of faith of the future spouses is at odds with the Church’s tradition. Documentation on 1917 codification found in the Vatican Secret Archives and the Historical Archives of the Pontifical Gregorian University are provided. The article provides a contribution to the reflection on the relationship between faith and marriage, since the corresponding canons of the 1983 Code substantially mirror those of the 1917 Code. |
