For the Social Doctrine of the Church, the companies have a social role in achieving a fairer society and contributing to the common good. At the labor level, this means contributing to the achievement of decent work, based on respect for the dignity of the person who performs it, which is manifested in respect for labor rights, especially the right to work, to non-discrimination, to a fair salary, carried out in safe conditions, respect for rest and attention to family, religious and cultural needs, to participation in company decisions, and to association in unions for the defense and representation of the interests of the workers, as well as, in cases where it is essential, the exercise of conflict tools such as strikes. La función de la empresa en la sociedad no puede limitarse a la obtención de beneficios económicos. Para la Doctrina Social de la Iglesia, la empresa tiene una función social en la búsquedade una sociedad más justa y la contribución al bien común. En el plano laboral, esto significa trabajaren la consecución de un trabajo decente, fundamentado en el respeto a la dignidad de la persona que lo realiza, lo que se manifiesta en el respeto a los derechos laborales, de manera especial el derecho al trabajo, a la no discriminación, a un salario justo, al trabajo realizado en condiciones de seguridad, el respeto al descanso y a la atención de las necesidades familiares, religiosas y culturales, a la participación en las decisiones de la empresa, y a la asociación en sindicatos para la defensa y representación de los intereses de los trabajadores, así como, en los casos en que sea imprescindible, al ejercicio de medidas de conflicto como la huelga. |
