Descrição
Resumo:Ecclesiae sponsae imago, the 2018 instruction promulgated by the Congregation for Institutes of Consecrated Life and Societies of Apostolic Life, speaks of the consecrated virgin who "wishes to be dispensed from the obligations arising from consecration" (ESI 70). 1 Would such a dispensation permit one who has been validly consecrated as a virgin to enter marriage? A virgin is "mystically espoused to Christ, the Son of God" when the bishop consecrates her according to the Rite of Consecration to a Life of Virginity (c. 604); she has entered a true marriage bond with Christ, characterized by the properties of unity and indissolubility (c. 1056). As one who is already bound by the bond of marriage, the validly consecrated virgin is impeded from validly celebrating another marriage (c. 1085 §1).
