Summary: | The need for personal faith on the part of those contacting marriage for the validity of the sacrament, has been one of the most debated questions before and during the celebration th the III Extraordinary General Assembly of the Synod of Bishops, which celebrated its first phase during the month of October of 2014. The reality is that there is an ever growing number of catholic faithful who declare themselves to be "not practicing" or even "not believers" but who still celebrate their marriage in the church for different reasons and who, after their marriage fails, look for a declaration of ist nullity, claiming that they lacked faith or did not believe in its sacramentality. All this has reopened the debate on faith and the sacrament of marriage, on the relevance of faith on the valid constitution of the sacrament of marriage, on if it is possible for those baptised to enter a valid natural marriage without it being a sacrament at the same time ... The author briefly describes the keys of this debate, explaining the closer and more immediate antecedents, which explain the complexities and doubts regarding this question which at the Synod of Bishops of 2014 |
