Whakarāpopototanga:Human security is no longer a systemic tool of the political elites who are deeply entrenched in androcentric patriarchy. Rather it is a notion that calls for a systemic protection and promotion of the fundamental freedoms and societal processes for human survival of the vulnerable so that they can enjoy a secured livelihood with dignity. An emerging theological notion emphasizes God as the font of human security for God is covenanted to the people and thus responds to the cries of the vulnerable. Through the Deuteronomic code, God enjoins the monarchy and the state to meet out justice to the vulnerable. In our times, God inspires the Church and related institutions to exercise a prophetic role in the face of a sustained brutality. Any violation of the personal dignity of the wo/men, youth and children calls for mounting political actions by the civil society and the church to oppose such hideous brutality with the insurrectional power of the cross and the Risen Lord.
